The Beer Geek Radio crew recently got a chance to visit Bread & Barley in downtown Covina, California to record the final episode of our Saison De Biere Geek Tournament. The guys from Iron Fist recently drove up from Vista, to Anaheim's own Bottle Logic in Anaheim. To brew the official beer for this years OC Brew Ha Ha Festival. The beer "Dr. Strange Matter" is a French style Saison with honey, basil and peppercorns to-be aged in various wine barrels. The above image courtesy of the Brew Ha Ha Facebook page. The beer will be released around mid August in the weeks approaching the 5th annual Brew Ha Ha with Orange County and San Diego distribution.

The Los Angeles Beer Competition is one of the most prestigious beer competitions in California. Calling from licensed brewpubs and breweries from the United States and as far as Iceland, Belgium, Japan and other areas. All to enter their beers for judging across all 84 traditional categories. Breweries enter a wide array of beers across these categories and wining is a big deal and is often displayed on brewery websites and hung with pride in their tasting rooms and offices.

Valiant Brewing Company, recently celebrated their first anniversary so they decided to do things a little differently from most anniversary beer events. Instead of having a big beer festival with several different breweries. Valiant decided to go small and intimate, focusing on producing new beers and the customers that helped them make it this far. Owner and head brewer, Brian Schroepfer was busy brewing and perfecting Valiant's recipes and styles for the anniversary party and created a very quality draft list.

Karl Strauss recently celebrated 25 years of brewing by celebrating the annual Changing of the Barrels. An event that honors the life and reputation of Karl Strauss' beers and the release of their 25th anniversary "Barrel Aged Doppelbock." It was held Saturday, February 8th at the Karl Strauss Brewery and Tasting Room at 5985 Santa Fe Street in the brewery's hometown of San Diego, California.

The second annual OC Brew Ho Ho fell upon a cold and rainy Saturday morning at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim California on December 7th. For those unfamiliar with the Brew Ho Ho, it's the sister event to the OC Brew Ha Ha. Providing craft beer fans with live music, shopping, and exceptional craft beer from local and out of town breweries. The weather did not stop attendees from having a holly jolly good time with craft beer.
