Angel City Will Be Bringing Beer to the LA Marathonin Beer News
Marathoners run with water, brewers walk with beer.
The common theme? Both drinks are important factors for an awesome race day experience – one fuels while the other celebrates. For the second year in a row, Angel City Brewery, located in Downtown LA’s Arts District, will be sponsoring the Skechers Performance LA Marathon this Sunday.
The Angel City Brewery team will be at Mile 11, located at Hollywood and Orange, to cheer on racers with tunes by DJ Michael Rockstar. Spectators and fans are encouraged to join in on the fun by grabbing an Angel City noisemaker and make their own sign at the poster-making station. At the end of the course, Angel City will be there to reward all those (of age) who cross the finish line with an ice-cold Angel City IPA, Pilsner, LAger and Citrus Wheat.
While runners take on the Stadium to the Sea course, Angel City’s brewing team supports and empathizes: Angel City brewers walk almost TWO marathons each week crafting the beer Angelenos love. The average person takes about 2,100 steps in a mile, and the brewers average about 100,000 steps each week, or almost 48 miles. While it may not be running, it is walking, lifting, climbing and the occasional pouring of a pint to earn the same 26.2 miles. In celebration of each heroic effort, Angel City will bring their beer and cheer to those running and watching.
“Most of the brewing team wears a step tracker, so we’re always in an unspoken competition with each other,” said Layton Culter, lead brewer for Angel City Brewery. “One day we were talking about the average number of steps in a marathon and quickly came to realize that we actually complete nearly two marathons in just a week of work. It couldn’t be more perfect that we’re brewing beer for the LA Marathon.”
Angel City Brewery brews for the greater LA area and beyond at their Downtown based brewery in the heart of the Arts District. The brewery’s Public House features a 19-tap bar that serves an ever-changing roster of classic and newly inspired beer, and is open seven days a week with a full calendar of events ranging from trivia nights to art shows, live music and festivals.
