Dry River Brewing Opens This Weekend

A new brewery’s tasting room is opening up in LA – in Boyle Heights!


Dry River Brewing is excited to announce their tasting room is opening up in Boyle Heights this weekend. Beginning tonight and running for the next two days, they will be hosting a closed event.


Although Dry River Brewing’s beers are available at select local retailers, the brewery has not been open to the public until now. Stepping into the Dry River Brewing tasting room is an experience as unique as the beer itself, rooted in both the history of its location as well as in the materials used to craft it. Locally salvaged wood and hardware merges together to create a space singularly fit to its East LA neighborhood.


Dry River Brewing is independently owned by husband-and-wife team Dave Hodgins and Vanda Ciceryova, and brewmaster Naga Reshi.


Dry River Brewing specializes in small-batch wild ales fermented in used oak barrels. Relying primarily on wild yeast strains that thrive in Los Angeles, Dry River experiments with botanicals and a variety of hops to produce complex yet inviting beers, original in both style and taste.


“We are makers of ‘slow beer,’” says Reshi. “We care deeply about our processes, our ingredients, and our environment. We want that to come through in every beer we produce.”   


“We were the first new business on the street when we signed our lease back in 2014,” says Hodgins. “We’re excited to finally be able to welcome our neighbors in to the brewery.”


Featuring six rotating taps and a selection of limited-release bottles available for purchase, the tasting room will provide beer lovers and sour beer newcomers a space to relax, connect, and contemplate the contents within their glasses.


Their Grand Opening event is a ticketed event, with limited seating for separate timed sessions. These 90-minute sessions are designed to offer guests a more personal experience. While the Saturday and Sunday sessions have sold out (July 1 & 2), additional sessions have been added for tonight (Friday June 30th) at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.  Tickets for the Friday sessions are available online for purchase.  

A ticket guarantees each attendee two pours from their lineup:

·        Lady Roja - Botanical Saison with hibiscus, tamarind & sea salt. (5.5%)

·        La Sucia - Hazy Dry-hopped Farmhouse Ale, fermented with Saison DuPont yeast, dry hopped with polaris & mosaic hops. (5.5%)

·        Morena - Sour Stout, made with Tanzanian cacao nibs, fermented with mixed house culture. Collaboration with Boomtown Brewery. (6.5%)

·        Zarza - Blackberry Lambic-style Sour Cuvee made with fresh organic blackberry puree. (6%)

·        Sequoia Sour - Wild Sahti-Style Ale, barrel-fermented and filtered through sequoia tree bark and sprigs. (4.8%)


Each guest will also have the option to buy additional pours and bottles to go. “This format allows each of our guests to really get a feel for the space, and have a memorable experience with us,” says Reshi. “This is a very personal project for us, and we want to make everyone feel like they’re part of the family.”



After the opening weekend, the Dry River Brewing tasting room will be open the first and third weekend of each month, Friday through Sunday.
