Looking for a place to celebrate the holiday season with your favorite brewers and beer personalities in the LA area?

You’re in luck, as Beer Paper LA and the Beer Thirty Show are hosting an end-of-the-year event in LA for their first time. Collaboratively celebrating the holidays this upcoming Monday night, the event will be taking place in Downtown LA. Along with a special guest tap list curated by Beer Paper LA, there will also be a live recording of the Beer Thirty Show’s end-of-year podcast with special guests.

The location for this celebration will be at Arts District Brewing, which, as it happens, will be celebrating its one-year anniversary! To commemorate the occasion, they will be releasing Barrel Cowboy, which is a bourbon barrel-aged version of their award-winning beer, Cowboy Curtis.*

While this event is the first time that Beer Paper LA and the Beer Thirty Show will be hosting this event in downtown LA, it’s not the first time they have collaborated for an end-of-year gathering. “We do an end-of-year show every year around this time, sometimes called the Year in Beer Review, where we invite all the guests that we've had on that year to the studio for a live broadcast/holiday party/bottleshare/shitshow to discuss the year in craft beer,” said Cody Robinson, co-host of the Beer Thirty Show. The impetus behind this special end-of-year show is that “We wanted to show our appreciation to all the guests that had come on the show throughout the year and go out in a big fashion, Beer Thirty-style,” said Brandon Peterson, the other co-host of the Beer Thirty Show.

Beer Paper LA is a natural partner for the Beer Thirty Show, says Peterson, since “Beer Paper LA has always been a great fit with the Beer Thirty Show.” This is due, in part, on account of Daniel Drennon, who took over a year and a half ago as editor of Beer Paper LA. “Daniel is probably the biggest fan L.A. craft beer has and I enjoy having him on every time,” continued Peterson.  As to the year-end show, “Beer Paper LA has partnered with us the last two years on this event,” said Robinson. “Last year, we had a band, kegs, and about 30 people from different local breweries, all in our little studio, with guests rotating on the mics.”**

However, this year’s event would not fit in their studio and they knew they needed to expand.  “We knew this year would be even bigger, so we decided to do the event at a facility that could handle both our number of guests as well as our tendencies to get a little wild,” said Robinson. “Brandon (aka The Legendary Brandino, aka Dinoflo, aka SpongeBeard No Pants) and Drennon worked together to find the location and, after talking with the crew at Arts District, they decided that would be the ideal spot.”

And they are very excited about throwing this event at Arts District Brewing. “We are super-stoked they are allowing us to have this event at their brewery,” said Robinson.” Peterson pointed out that they had thought “Arts District Brewing would provide everything we need as far as space, guest tap list availability, and good beer. This venue will also allow us to invite not only industry people, but also listeners and fans of the paper. This place is beyond perfect to throw the biggest craft beer holiday party of all time!”

“We like partnering with Beer Paper LA on events like these because they share the same values and passion that we have, namely, supporting local independent craft beer,” said Robinson. “With this event, we want to show appreciation for our fans and listeners, as well as for the brewers and breweries that have made our show worth watching and listening to. To us, the craft beer scene is all about community, and we hope this event will help bring the community even closer as we look forward to next year.”

The event will be taking place from 4pm until 10pm, with the Beer Thirty Show doing a live podcast from 6pm through 9pm. The guest tap list includes beers from Beachwood, The Bruery, Eagle Rock Brewery, Highland Park Brewing, and more. “We’re inviting every brewery in LA and OC to come,” said Drennon. Arts District Brewing is a great space for this event, since they “have the advantage of having a kitchen attached to their brewery. Plus, they have games there, such as cornhole, skeeball, and more.”

This looks like quite the happening event in the LA-area beer scene!

* Cowboy Curtis won the silver medal at the 2016 Great America Beer Festival in the smoke beer category.
