Big Cog is a Deliciously Sessionable DIPA

Finding a DIPA that you can knock back pint after pint is not an easy find.

With Wiens Brewing’s Big Cog double IPA, you might have found what you’re looking for.  Clocking in at 8.5% ABV, this is surely a dangerous beer, as it does not pack a lot of bitterness, yet has a lot of flavor.

With a noticeable dankness as well as some grassy notes on the nose, which continue throughout one’s drinking experience, there’s also some slight citrus (perhaps orange) that lurks in the background. There is also an noticeable, but not prominent level of hop resin, which makes it very drinkable.  The dank and citrus notes, with a little bit of bitterness make for a long-lasting finish.

One thing I particularly enjoyed about this beer is that it has a remarkably smooth mouthfeel.  Coupled with a solid, malty body, it is delicious.  When pouring it, it can be easy to confuse this beer with a much lighter beer, as it presents as a very light straw color, yet packs the flavor of a heavier beer.

I greatly enjoyed this double IPA and I think it’s worth trying!

Beer is The Answer at Screens 'n' Suds Big Event

Tonight for the Screens N' Suds 'Big Event' held at The Answer Brewpub, side project of An Mekong of Mekong Restaurant fame. The only answer needed to this question is hand made craft beer.
