Looking for some tunes to go along with your brews?

Brouwerij West’s Popfuji summer concert series will kickoff this weekend, as part of Los Angeles Beer Week. The second season of this music festival of independent acts begins on noon this Sunday (Father’s Day), followed by three more concerts on the third Saturday of each month thereafter: Saturday, July 15; Saturday, August 19; and Saturday, September 16, 2017.

This opening event is free and open to all ages. Thematically connecting to the title of the series, Brouwerij West's Popfuji pilsner is available for $5 all day.  Music will be playing for hours, with bands playing on their courtyard stage and food trucks will be serving all day from 12-9pm.

The first event of this year’s series promises stellar sounds from:

Brainstory: Long Beach-based band fresh off a recent album release. Some have described their music as a "jazz infused, psychedelic storytelling trip." Brainstory is one of the bands booked to play Music Tastes Good in Long Beach in October and are a local favorite moving up in popularity in the LA band scene.

Lovely Bad Things: Having played FYF, SXSW and Primavera Sound, Lovely Bad Things began in La Mirada nestled between Los Angeles and Orange County, a fitting place for a band to find solace in music. Brothers Camron (guitar, vocals) and Brayden Ward (drums, vocals) met Lauren Curtius (guitar, vocals), Tim Hatch (guitar) and Wesley Baxter (bass) during their formative years, and joined forces to create a perfect blend of the most infectiously resonant aspects of their alternative and punk predecessors. Lovely Bad Things offer a wild and humorous stage presence while effortlessly shredding the musical prowess they’ve spent the past 8 years cultivating.

Clown Sounds: San Pedro's own Todd Conge (Toys That Kill, The Underground Railroad to Candyland, F.Y.P) will be in the house with Clown Sounds. Sure to be a real humdinger!

Good Dog: San Pedro-based rockstars consisting of Joey Centofanti (guitar / vocals), Danny Andrew (drums / vocals) , Caitlin Bartlett (bass / vocals) and Chris Laskey (guitar).

Food trucks include: Seoul Sausage, Garcia Shack, Bellybombz, The Sweet Life and more.

Last year, the Popfuji concerts featured local favorite bands including Kim and the Created, Fartbarf, L.A. Witch, Bombón, Furcast, Rudy de Anda, Toys That Kill, TV Heads, Assquatch, Dinosaur, Assquatch, Kurtis E. & The Plumes, Death Hymn Number 9, Maniac, Ballantynes, Rats in the Louvre, and Mike Watt with the minutemen and the secondmen, and included food trucks such as Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese, Tomski Sausage, Mad Pambazos, Belly Bombz, Tokyo Doggie Style, Me So Hungry, Mangia, Paradise Truck, Daddy’s Best Froyo, and Tactile Coffee.

Brouwerij West’s Tasting Room and courtyard are now open 7 days a week: Monday – Thursday, 4:00pm – 9:00pm; Friday – Saturday, noon – 10:00pm and Sunday, noon – 9:00pm, with food trucks in the courtyard providing food options each day. Beer is The Answer at Screens 'n' Suds Big Event

When most beer geeks look at their elixir filled glass, one either gazes at or thinks of ways to unmask it. Evaluating and demystifying to find the purpose or wonder of that particular beer. Either the brewer had the intention, the mistake, or the unknown with said brew. Labels can only take us so far into the imagination or process and concoction of said brew. Tonight for the Screens N' Suds 'Big Event' held at The Answer Brewpub, side project of An Mekong of Mekong Restaurant fame. The only answer needed to this question is hand made craft beer.
