Golden Road Brewing's Anaheim Location to Open Very Soon

A huge new venue for beer-lovers is about to open up across the street from Angels Stadium.

Opening up in a matter of weeks will be Golden Road Brewing’s new Orange County brewpub in Anaheim, right across the street from Angels Stadium, providing game-goers with another beer option for pre-gaming, post-gaming, or even during the games, themselves. It seems that the area is ripe for customers, as Karl Strauss opened up a brewpub less than a quarter-mile down the same street last year.

With over 6,000 square feet of indoor space and an expected total of 40,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor space, as well as an anticipated barrel room, Golden Road’s new venue looks to be a massive events space for beer, food, and fun. In the main indoor bar, there will be 40 tap handles, with another 20 tap handles at an outdoor bar, providing customers with options and less lines.

While most of the beer will be coming from their main LA facility, some of the beer on-tap will be produced on-site. For the past year or so, the Anaheim location has served as an experimental brewery, where the brewers have been brewing on the original 15-barrel system that Golden Road used at their LA brewery. (For certain batches that have proved to be successful, they have scaled up as necessary on their bigger system in LA.)  They have ten stainless steel fermenters on-site in which they rotate different beers, accompanied by a small lab (Golden Road also has a bigger lab in LA).

Ideally, said award-winning head brewer Victor Novak, he would like to have 25-30 of the taps supplying beer made on the premises. He said that he makes great stuff, but he tries to provide variety. “We love to run the gambit. My sweet spot is brewing the classic lagers,” but, he pointed out, “you have got to be able to run the gambit” with so many flavors, including fruit-flavors, chocolate, and more, to satisfy the variety of palates out there.

While the space is still very much undergoing construction and decoration, it looks very promising. The indoor space is currently sparsely - yet colorfully - decorated, with the very eye-catching multi-colored bar chairs, seemingly providing somewhat of a mirror to the seemingly many-colored bar handles, in addition to the simpler wood tables. The outdoor space is entirely undeveloped as of this writing, but was told that, within weeks’ time, that there will be patio space for game-playing.

With some soft openings in the coming weeks, and a grand opening in the future, the new venue promises to be a really neat new option for beer and food in Orange County. However, they still plan on growth, as a further 40-tap handle bar is expected, as well as an accompanying 20-tap handle bar. Yes, that means they will soon have 60 tap handles, with an expectation to double that number by mid-2018, with thousands of square feet to join their available public space. It will be fascinating to see this new venue grow!

Stay tuned for information about the grand opening of the new Golden Road location in Anaheim!

Beer is The Answer at Screens 'n' Suds Big Event

When most beer geeks look at their elixir filled glass, one either gazes at or thinks of ways to unmask it. Evaluating and demystifying to find the purpose or wonder of that particular beer. Either the brewer had the intention, the mistake, or the unknown with said brew. Labels can only take us so far into the imagination or process and concoction of said brew. Tonight for the Screens N' Suds 'Big Event' held at The Answer Brewpub, side project of An Mekong of Mekong Restaurant fame. The only answer needed to this question is hand made craft beer.
