The Los Angeles International Beer Competition has announced information for this year’s event.

Operated by the Los Angeles County Fair Association, the competition guarantees greater exposure for the winning entries, offering consumers access to some of the world's finest brews. Celebrating its 17th year, the event rivals other contests with an esteemed judging panel, an exciting tasting event held in the summer, and a comprehensive public education program during the LA County Fair.

The competition is open to any licensed brewery or brewpub.  All beers entered must be available for sale to the general public.  Beers may be entered only by a representative of the brewery.   The entries may be submitted in bottles, cans, or kegs, with a minimum of either six (6) bottles of less than 22 oz. or four (4) bottles of 22 oz. or more; or one keg with an American Sanke fitting.  Each beer may be entered in only one category.  Breweries may enter as many entries as they desire.

The Los Angeles International Beer Competition provides award winners with additional marketing opportunities, including the ability to purchase additional beer medals identifying bottles as medal winners and the opportunity to sell award-winning beer in the Award-Winning Beer Tavern, during the LA County Fair, which has received over a million attendees in previous years.

The LA International Beer Competition has grown over the last few years in no small part due to the involvement of its current chairman, Jason Torres, who has shepherded it from around 600 entries to more than doubling it to its current number of nearly 1300 entries. "The large growth of the craft beer industry over the last few years is exciting," said Torres. "What makes it unique is that a lot of these breweries are owned and operated by family and friends. It has also been great to showcase many of these award-winning beers at the LA County Fair."

Beers will be received Monday, April 10 – Friday, April 14, 2017 between the hours of 10am and 4pm. The beers will then undergo a closed judging the weekend of April 22-23, 2017. Finally, there will be craft beer locations with a select few of the winners open to the public at the LA County Fair, September 1-24, 2017.

Beer is The Answer at Screens 'n' Suds Big Event

When most beer geeks look at their elixir filled glass, one either gazes at or thinks of ways to unmask it. Evaluating and demystifying to find the purpose or wonder of that particular beer. Either the brewer had the intention, the mistake, or the unknown with said brew. Labels can only take us so far into the imagination or process and concoction of said brew. Tonight for the Screens N' Suds 'Big Event' held at The Answer Brewpub, side project of An Mekong of Mekong Restaurant fame. The only answer needed to this question is hand made craft beer.
