20th Annual Bluesapaloozain Events
The 20th annual Bluesapalooza was one for the books.
This was the my 4th year straight attending Bluesapalooza and I know I've said it before, but every year gets better and better. This year with over 80 breweries attending from Reno to San Diego and everywhere in-between.
Upon my arrival on Friday the first thing I had to do was goto Mammoth Brewing Company and of course have a flight of all their beers on tap. With two flights full of different styles of beer and a "Not so Philly Cheese Steak" from the Eatery in hand I was content after that six hour drive.
Every year Mammoth Brewing Company brews a anniversary beer for Bluesapalooza, this year they made a Brett Ale with apricots, elder flowers, and put in French Oak barrels. Not being the most knowledgeable on Brett style beers, I got to say it was very tasty. Also, this year they had one of my favorite beers their Double Nut Brown, but they barrel aged it and put it on nitro which made it even better.
The event last Thursday through Sunday with great blues musicians performing each day and night. Saturday is when the Festival of Beers starts from 12pm-5pm. You are immersed into Sam's Wood Site surround by trees, great people, amazing music, and of course beer! With over 80 breweries its nearly impossible to try each one and I don't encourage anyone to try because those 5oz tasters will catch up to you. With all these breweries bringing a minimum of two different styles of beer their was a vast amount of varieties. What's great about this festival is a lot of breweries will bring something special whether it's a common beer they have but barrel age it or add different additives, to very unique beers that you won't find anywhere else.
When Sunday comes attendees are invited to come the Soulful Sunday Hangover Party where bloody mary's and even more beer is served. As you recoup from the day/night of drinking before, Sunday is for people to relax and enjoy some great music while reminiscing of the past few days in beautiful surroundings of Mammoth.
Bluesapalooza can't be done without all the amazing volunteers and workers. The people over at HarvestMoon and Mammoth Brewing Company work super hard to put this event on every year and I can't thank them enough for letting BierBuzz be part of the 20th annual Bluesapalooza. This is my favorite event by far with a percentage of the proceeds going to Beer 4 Boobs a non-profit that contributes to cancer research and promotes breast cancer awareness. Bluesapalooza, I can't wait to see what you have in stored for us next year.
