On Saturday, November 8, 2014, Rock Sports held their 10th Annual Tour de Foothills Event that ended in the Claremont Village, Claremont CA.

It was a bike event that has bike races ranging from 33-mile to the more advanced 100-mile races.

The winners will be announced soon on their website. This year, in addition to the wrap up at the conclusion of the race, there was the Tour de Brews Event. The event was located near the beautiful train station near the Claremont Village and weather was perfectly warm and sunny for both the bike races and events afterwards.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_4680.jpgTour de Brews ran from 1-5 pm, with a special VIP entrance time at 12pm and sectioned off lounge area.  The cyclists were also welcomed by Dale Bros at the end of the race with a pint of beer just for them in a designated beer garden. With 10 breweries, most local, with LA County Fair’s award winning wines booth, 2 vendors, and our very own BierBuzz® team, the event kicked off with a great atmosphere. Though the event started out a little sparse, due to the bike races still being held, but once the racers and families started trickling in, the event blossomed into a fun filled afternoon to mingle and meet many new people...along with trying some amazing beers. Breweries consisted of: Dale Bros. Brewery, JT Schmid’s Resaurant and Brewery, Rök House Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing Company, Inland Empire Brewing Company, Goose Island Beer Company, Claremont Craft Ales, No Clue Craft Brewery, Bootleggers Brewery, and Einstök Beer Company. Nine of the breweries brought 2 of their beers for everyone to try, but Einstök brought their full lineup of 5 beers.

One of the beers Dale Bros. brought was their Mango Shandy, it was a delicious and easy drinking beer, prefect for the day. Several of the breweries brought their pale ale styles, but if I had to pick one of the pale ales, it would be Rök House Brewing's ImPale Cascara Ale. Which presented this unique and delightful cherry coffee aroma with the crisp flavors of an American pale ale. My favorite beer of the entire event by No Clue Craft Brewery surprised me to say the least. I usually migrate to the hops of the pale ales and IPAs but was delighted by the flavors and complexity of their Saison du Clue. It had the hints of a tangy farmhouse style saison, but with the added complexity that usually has me running to the pale ales and the like. b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_4629.jpg

All-in-all this event had many wonderful aspects, and was such a delight to be a part of. The crowd of people and vendors were all so wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The volunteers were helpful and social, and there was a great selection of breweries. My only request for next year.. Food trucks!

That day was definitely good times! Anyone else think that the Mango Shandy was crazy good?
