New Video: "How To Brew With All-Grain"in Products
Having been a home brewer for over two years, I have done a lot of malt extract home brewed beers and used a lot of quick YouTube videos that show me how to boil, mash, rack and even bottle. But when I got the call to review Brad Smith and John Palmer’s new video...
“How To Brew With All Grain,” I was excited to see the other side of brewing and expanding my horizons in this awesome hobby. This hour long how-to video goes through 8 exciting sections (plus 1 BJCP- beer judging certification program overview) that walk you through what to expect, tips, tricks and do-it-yourself methods to make brewing all-grain easier and faster even for a beginner.
Some people choose different ways to learn new things: books, videos, hands on, and or even asking questions; I am a hybrid of those that include videos and hands on preferably with someone around so I can ask bold questions to realize new techniques. So when I saw the video I was pretty blown away and was sucked right into the tutorial. From start to finish, Brad and John go through each section with a deep understanding of the brewing process and explain the steps effectively so the viewers do not feel overwhelmed with all the information that gets thrown out to them.
What I liked about “How To Brew With All Grain” is how well composed it was: High quality video, explained well, has useful information (making a dipstick, how extract is made), Do’s (Getting the right malt mill, adding air before you add the yeast) and Don’ts (over airing your yeast/not properly sanitizing) and lots of useful ideas on how to make homemade tools used for brewing including: kegging, copper tubes, boiling, and dry hopping. The tutorial also includes an extra 5 bonus videos that talk more in depth about dry hopping and making a yeast starter, amongst other topics. Plus you get to see a blooper reel of John and Brad during the credits, so you can feel right at home knowing expert brewers are just like you and me, human.
With that said I think this video is a great addition to any brewers library from novice to headmaster brewers and at $19.95 (20% off) it is a must buy! So give them a try @ http://beersmith.com/dvd/
