One of the biggest craft beer events in Nevada is taking place this weekend.

Great Vegas Festival of Beer (GVFB) returns this weekend for its largest year ever.  Known for being the longest-running and most well-attended beer festival in Nevada, GVFB has played an essential role in creating a craft beer culture in Vegas, and it’s become one of the most important annual events for brewers in the state.

Beyond that, GVFB continues to push boundaries by taking the unprecedented step of expanding the festival to a two-day extravaganza this Friday (April 7th) and Saturday (April 8th).  Set to the one-of-a-kind backdrop of Downtown Las Vegas, GVFB is an event that everyone can enjoy: offering great beer, food, entertainment, music and more. Produced by Motley Brews and set to the backdrop of Downtown Las Vegas, the seventh annual Great Vegas will offer tastings of more than 500 craft beers from 110 breweries.

“Great Vegas Festival of Beer was founded to enhance the beer drinking experience,” said Brian Chapin, founder and CEO of Motley Brews. Chapin catered to Las Vegas’ thirst for craft beer with the inaugural Great Vegas Festival of Beer in 2011, which quickly sold out to more than 2,000 attendees. The event has grown from year to year, prompting an expansion to two days this year. The Great Vegas Grand Tasting will be held from 3-7pm this Saturday, with early entry at 2 p.m.

New this year is the unique “Mad Craft Experience”, giving beer and food lovers the chance to create their own “science experiments,” dreaming up and pairing a variety of unusual food & beverages, as well as rare pours and special guests.  Taking place this Friday night, from 7-10pm, the Mad Craft Experience is a special new event that “is basically a science fair for beer lovers,” according to Chapin.

Throughout both days, Great Vegas will offer beer-infused and inspired cuisine by some of Las Vegas’ top chefs, life-sized pub games and interactive entertainment. “Both days will go beyond samplings to explore new types of experimentation with beer,” described Chapin.

Tickets for the Mad Craft Experience start at $70 (plus fees), while tickets start at $40 (plus fees) for Saturday’s Grand Tasting, providing access to the festival from 3-7pm, along with a tasting glass, unlimited beer samples and entertainment options including a silent disco, BrewLogic seminars and more. Early admission tickets are also available, providing entry at 2pm, priced at $50 (plus fees).  VIP tickets to the Grand Tasting, Great Vegas’ most coveted credential, are priced at $85 (plus a service fee), and include early entry at 2pm, access to the VIP Brewers Lounge, which includes a rotating tap of limited release and rare beers, a decadent spread of top-notch cuisine prepared by celebrated Las Vegas chefs, a lounge area and more. VIP tickets are limited. Tickets are available for purchase now online.

A portion of the proceeds from the event always benefit local non-profits. This year’s local non-profits to benefit will be the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation and the Nevada Craft Brewers Association. More information about Great Vegas Festival of Beer can be found at the Facebook event page.
